About the event

Nicholas McCarthy | piano
Sip your morning coffee while world-class musicians perform at the Old Swan Hotel, Harrogate. It’s the perfect chance to experience exceptional artistry, meet fellow music lovers, and be part of something truly special.

One of the world’s most inspirational pianists, Nicholas McCarthy, studied at the Royal College of Music in London, becoming the only onehanded pianist to graduate in its 130-year history. When he first began playing at 14 he would adapt two handed repertoire because he knew nothing about one handed repertoire – in fact, there are 3000 works for left hand solo piano. Since then, he has become a passionate advocate for the often overlooked left-hand-alone repertoire. McCarthy has worked with ABRSM (Britain’s main music examination board) to create the first ever one-handed piano syllabus.
